Welcome…

Hello, my name is Judy, my husband Ben & I currently live half of the year in Northern California and the other half of the year we reside in Nevada with our small pack of dogs and one very tolerant Munchkin cat!  We’re adjusting to being recent empty nesters as our last child left for college. Although both of us grew up with many animals, Ben had the added benefit of growing up on a farm in rural Kansas (naturally providing him with opportunities to raise, train & deliver many dogs & various farm animals).  Before I started my family, I served 8 years in the Air Force National Guard.  I also enjoyed my time volunteering at our local animal shelter & fostered a few wonderful dogs along the way.  Later, I established a dog grooming business for years while my kids attended school.

Twelve years ago, we had the privilege of adopting our first Prague Ratter, (a little black & tan boy) Rocky, from David Rufer. Rocky is still going strong at 12 years of age. Soon, we realized that we couldn’t be happier with any other breed of dog. The Prague Ratters’ size, ease of training, temperament & superior health is what sets them apart from any other dog breed for us. Later we were fortunate enough to have added 2 more Prague Ratters that we adopted from Carolyn Reynolds.  Lulu, is my beautiful chocolate & tan little lady with the sweetest disposition. One look from Lulu & your heart will melt. She is a very sweet, special girl that is incredibly smart & only wants to please.  Bruno is our black & tan little dynamo. There are no bad days with Bruno around & no dog that Bruno doesn’t want to desperately meet.

All of our dogs are raised inside of our home, and we give them plenty of room to play and explore.  Focusing on health and nutrition is a major focus for our family and our pets.  We also make sure they receive plenty of human interaction and social experiences. Essentially our dogs are members of the family & we take these little guys everywhere with us.

Our Philosophy:

At West Coast Prague ratters, we strive to produce happy, healthy, balanced dogs.  Years ago, we were forced to address our daughter’s extreme & debilitating chemical sensitivities & allergies; and as a result of educating ourselves, our health as well as the health of our animals immensely improved.

We are devoted to raising wonderful puppies who will become loving members of your families.  From birth, our puppies are showered with love and affection.  We take socializing our puppies very seriously & will be available to assist & coach new families to further continue socializing their new puppy at home.

Because it is incredibly important to us to match the right dog to the right home, we look forward to meeting you!  Should you have any questions about our current litter, please feel free to contact me via phone, text, or email.

TESTIMONIES

We got a Prague Ratter puppy from Judy (and mama Lulu & daddy Rocky). Judy has been a pleasure to work with right from first contact.
We got to see the doggie family remotely, received regular updates, photos and videos as the puppies were growing before they were ready to go to their new homes.  Judy helped us pick a puppy to make sure the puppy was well matched (our puppy had to go through a long trip by plane and a long drive which she tolerated well). We absolutely loved the attention that Judy gave the puppies right from birth - our puppy came litter box trained(!) as well as comfortable in her crate and being carried in a sling carrier.   Our puppy is healthy, calm, easy to train and work with - she aims to please.  I feel like we really lucked out connecting with Judy and being able to adopt one of her puppies.  It’s been an excellent experience all around.

Teta

I want to tell you about Judy Asbury, she is a wonderful breeder! We got our baby girl from her a couple of months ago. When we got BJ she was already potty trained and so well socialized. We are so completely happy with every aspect of our dealings with Judy. I cannot praise her and her puppy enough!

I was looking for a small breed that was energetic but also warm and cuddly. Little did I know when I started my search, not only would I find what I was looking for but gain a friendship with a wonderful person.

Judy puts so much time and effort into not only making sure the right puppy goes to the right home, but she makes sure that puppy is fully ready. She focuses on nutrition, socialization and exposing the puppy to different environments. Her hard work is my gain as I now have a frisky, healthy, well balanced puppy. Between Mila’s bursts of energy, she will run to me and put her arms around my neck, look up at me with those eyes….and I just melt. The warm cuddles bring joy to my heart.

She gets along well with my senior Chihuahua. My 8 year old granddaughter spends hours carrying her around the house and playing with her. Mila loves to travel, whether its a car, bicycle or plane ride.

Judy continues to be there for any questions or information I need. Through the process of getting my puppy, she kept in communication with emails, phone calls, pictures and videos.

Milacek is exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you Judy, Ben and family for blessing me with my bundle of joy.

Having a great relationship with your breeder is something we value and it’s exactly what we found with Judy.  We quickly learned how knowledgeable and invested Judy is with her puppies through her regular communication to us. In updates we saw how Judy capitalized on every stage of growth to stimulate, develop, imprint and socialize her puppies beyond basics. Her commitment to their early development can only be described as exceptional. We are first time PR owners and found her information and tips extremely helpful to not only prepare for our puppy’s arrival but also continue with his progress.

Upon meeting our new puppy he was curious, calm, litter trained, carrier trained, very playful and bonded quickly - all of which made the overnight in a hotel room and long flight home easy.  With the level of socialization introduced by Judy he easily adjusted to his new pack and home.  He is now 4 months and so keen to learn, and is just fun to be around.  Thank you Judy for this precious boy.
